Introducing Fijn (pronounced “fine,” Dutch for fine)
Fijn is a new generation of lightweight, high-performance tools designed for home hobbyists, makers, and everyday problem solvers. Equipped with compact motors and efficient 12V batteries, each tool is built to last a lifetime without maintenance. More than just functional equipment, Fijn tools act as an extension of creativity—blending durability, comfort, and modern design. Unlike traditional tools that fade into the background, Fijn stands out with a sleek and refined aesthetic, elevating the hardware store aisle while inspiring confidence at first touch.
The Fijn collection offers a versatile lineup of essential power tools designed for creativity, repair, and everyday making. The range includes a cordless drill, impact driver, orbital sander, angle grinder, and mini circular saw—each built around the same lightweight 12V system and universal 45mm cylindrical handle. This consistency ensures that no matter which tool you pick up, it feels instantly familiar, comfortable, and reliable. Together, these tools cover everything from precise detailing to heavy-duty cutting and shaping, giving makers of all skill levels the confidence to take on any project.
Every tool in the Fijn collection is designed around the human hand. The universal 45mm cylindrical handle runs across the product range, from the cordless drill and impact driver to the orbital sander, angle grinder, and mini circular saw. Lightweight yet durable, the cushioned grip ensures comfort through long use. Balanced weight distribution reduces hand and arm fatigue, while the carefully contoured design minimizes recoil and vibrations, providing stability and steadiness. The result is a tool that feels natural, secure, and easy to control, no matter the task.
Safety and usability are at the heart of Fijn. Each tool features a fingerprint-enabled power switch, preventing unauthorized access and accidental activation while giving users peace of mind. A subtle LED light ring clearly indicates ON and OFF with the universal binary symbols “I” and “0,” while the battery status system is designed to be instantly recognizable: white for idle, green for fully charged, and red for low battery. These small yet powerful details ensure that users always know the state of their tools at a glance. Built from high-quality materials, Fijn is made to withstand both heavy use and demanding conditions, combining resilience with elegance.
At Fijn, every tool begins with the body in mind. The design process relied heavily on bodystorming, where physical models were rapidly prototyped to simulate real in-use scenarios. By holding, twisting, and applying force through these mockups, the team could study how different forms interacted with the hand and body. This hands-on exploration allowed us to refine the ergonomic contours, ensuring that the universal 45mm cylindrical handle felt natural, secure, and balanced across the full range of tools. Through iterative testing, we minimized strain, improved grip comfort, and optimized weight distribution, resulting in a tool family that doesn’t just look sleek—it performs intuitively, becoming an effortless extension of the user’s movements.
